Rock River Challenge Program

The Challenge Program (Regional Safe Schools Program) is an alternative school program for regular education students who have been disruptive in the educational program in a regular school. The program is available to students in grades 6 through 12 from districts in Lee and Ogle Counties.

Students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for the program:

Suspended at least twice for a period of 4 - 10 days for gross misconduct.
Eligible for disciplinary reassignment pursuant to violation of school district "zero tolerance" policies (expelled or expulsion eligible).
Involved in misconduct that can be demonstrated as serious, repetitive and/or cumulative, and has been previously remediated at least once by the district.
Youth returning from juvenile correction facilities.
