CHANGING THE WAY WE THINK
The new transition program, SOAR (Supportive Opportunities for Adult Readiness), will change the way our participants move from a high school setting into a more "real world" atmosphere.
SOAR is a completely separate program from the High School Life Skills classroom. Participants between the ages of 18 and 21 inclusive will have the opportunity to take part in the program that will offer a wide variety of training settings for our young adults to move from being students to participating fully in the community.
SOAR will be structured in an apartment-like setting. Participants will assist in setting up and decorating the new "living" space. With the assistance of the teacher, participants will determine rules for the "home" and all activities will be extensions of the apartment. Each young adult will participate fully to maintain the house-hold through a set of duties to be fulfilled.
